VDI SOLUTION

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solution uses virtualization technology to achieve desktop virtualization

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solution uses virtualization technology to achieve desktop virtualization, application delivery, and server virtualization. It features high security, high reliability, high performance, ease of remote, centralized O&M, and smooth expansion, with the following taken into consideration

Resource pool

Servers are configured with unified virtualization platform (UVP) software, which virtualizes servers to form a resource pool. Then three separate clusters are created for servers used for VDI desktops, application virtualization, and server virtualization. In the resource pool, the VMs that run on the servers are easy for management and monitoring. VMs in a cluster support customized policy migration, manual live migration, and fault live migration. The resource pool is highly reliable and can be expanded smoothly.

Desktop management

Virtual desktop management software provides highly reliable and high-performance virtual desktops.

Virtualization management

The virtualization management software is used to centrally manage hardware devices (servers, storage devices, and switches) and virtual resources. With the B/S architecture, the Software remotely manages the three resource pools for VDI desktops, application virtualization, and server virtualization. The software manages and monitors the physical and virtual resources, and supports quick VM deployment and customized VM scheduling policies.

Two types of resources

Computing resources

Computing resources include CPUs and memory. After virtualization software is installed on servers, one physical server can be divided into several VMs to provide virtual desktops of various specifications. Computing resources are managed by the same desktop cloud management system.

Storage resources

Storage resources provide virtual desktops with the storage space required by the desktop cloud system, management system, and data. The active storage devices store data and are divided into logical unit numbers (LUNs) for different types of data, such as management data, Windows system data, and user data.

The following lists VDI advantages:

  • Easy to control and manage: Because desktops are running in the data center, administrators can deploy, manage, and maintain desktops easily.
  • Superior user experience: Users use virtual desktops, feeling the same as if they were using PCs.
  • Reduced TCO: Desktop virtualization helps reduce management and resource costs.
